Your baby is the size of a lime!
Your baby’s genitals are developing. Their head is half the size of their body.
They can open their hands and mouth and even suck their thumb.
Are you interested in screening for Down syndrome or having other genetic tests? Blood tests can be done as early as 10 weeks. We offer cell-free DNA screening. This screening tests your blood to tell if your baby may have Down syndrome or other chromosome problems.
You can also find out the sex of your baby! Talk to your provider about whether you are interested or not.
Some genetic tests offered in pregnancy are about the pregnant person. We check for risk of sickle cell disease, cystic fibrosis (CF), and spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). These tests look for whether you are a “carrier” for something—meaning you don’t have it, but the baby could.
Sickle cell disease is a blood condition. Cystic fibrosis is mostly a lung issue. SMA is a disease of nerves and muscle. If any of these tests are positive, we will set up a meeting with a genetic counselor.
