Muhammara or mhammara is a spicy dip made of walnuts, red peppers, pomegranate molasses, and spices. It is associated with Aleppo, Syria but can also be found in Turkey. Muhammara is especially popular in southeastern regions, where Arab dishes are more common in the local cuisine because of the Syrian cultural influence. Serve with pita chips, fresh warm pita, or raw vegetables. 

Ingredients


Roasted_Red_Peppers – 12-oz jar or can, rinsed and patted dry Walnuts – 1 cup Breadcrumbs – ½ cup Oil – 2 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil or any vegetable oil (canola, avocado, sesame, etc) Tahini – 1 Tablespoon (optional) Lemon - 1 teaspoon juice Salt - ½ teaspoon Paprika - ½ teaspoon Cumin - 1 teaspoon Cayenne_pepper - ⅛ teaspoon Pomegranate_molasses – 2 Tablespoons (or substitute balsamic vinegar) Parsley – 1 Tablespoon, chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

Step 1
Pulse all ingredients except parsley in food processor until smooth, about 10 pulses.
Step 2
Transfer to serving bowl, cover, and refrigerate for 15 minutes
Step 3
Sprinkle with parsley, if using, before serving.
