In 2016 BMC established the Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery. With the unified structure, patients have a single point of contact for their care needs. We are the first center in New England to provide such a comprehensive program and we are a leader nationally in delivery of transgender medical and surgical care.
The Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery at Boston Medical Center follows the WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) Standards of Care and the Endocrine Society Guidelines for the care of our patients.
Massachusetts requires all insurance providers to provide medically indicated transgender medical coverage and Boston Medical Center is actively working to make arrangements with providers. Patients should contact their insurance companies to determine current status or contact us for assistance with guidelines.
