Sickle cell disease (SCD) affects every organ in the body, especially as patients age. However, not everyone with SCD has the same complications or the same number of complications. This is why ongoing care, screenings, and treatment are so important for adults with SCD.

At BMC, we’re home to the largest center for SCD in New England, with hematologists who specialize in treating adults with SCD. Our core team also works closely with a wide range of sub-specialists, such as pulmonologists, nephrologists, and primary care doctors who understand the needs and many complications of patients with SCD.
