Dry mouth is a common side effect during cancer treatment. Individuals who have dry mouth symptoms and are having difficulty swallowing should choose soft foods—for example, foods like oatmeal, yogurt, smoothie, etc. For today’s recipe, I made an easy grab and go breakfast. This mango overnight oat recipe is ideal for cancer patients with symptoms of dry mouth and have difficulty swallowing. Specifically, overnight oats are soft and easy to swallow. Additionally, the tartness of Greek Yogurt can stimulate the flow of saliva and prevent dry mouth.

Ingredients

Mango - 1 cup frozen mango, diced (or any frozen fruit of choice!) Yogurt - ½ cup of plain fat free or 2% greek yogurt Honey - 2 teaspoons (optional) Milk - ⅔ cup of fat free or 2% Chia_seeds - 2 Tablespoons Oats - ½ cup Toppings - Fruits or nuts on top (optional)

Instructions

Step 1
Combine mangos, yogurt, honey, and milk in a blender. Blend until smooth.
Step 2
Mix in oats and chia seeds.
Step 3
Pour into two separate bowls/mugs and place in the refrigerator.
Step 4
The next morning: top with fruits, nuts, or eat plain.

Notes

This recipe is very flexible. You can substitute frozen mango for any type of fruit for your liking (ie. frozen bananas, strawberries, mixed berries). Additionally, adding honey is completely optional.
