The Pulmonology Department comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, education, and rehabilitation services for a full range of pulmonary diseases and allergy conditions. The practice has an award-winning clinical program in asthma and expertise in fibrotic lung disease, bronchiectasis, pulmonary hypertension, sarcoidosis, and tuberculosis. Several of the physicians have been recognized for their excellence in patient care by the Consumers' Guide to Top Doctors. All of the physicians are board-certified in pulmonary medicine and some have additional certification in allergy and immunology and critical care medicine.

Amyloidosis Center

Boston Medical Center is an international referral center for the diagnosis and treatment of amyloidosis, a rare group of diseases caused by the abnormal accumulation of the protein amyloid in various parts of the body. This can occur as part of a bone marrow plasma cell disorder (AL), as a hereditary form (AF), an age-related form (senile systemic amyloidosis due to ATTR), or secondary to chronic inflammatory or infectious diseases (AA).

Bronchiectasis Program

Bronchiectasis is a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) characterized by permanent damage to the lung’s major airways. Boston Medical Center offers the only coordinated, multidisciplinary program in Massachusetts to help reduce recurrent infections and treat symptoms of the condition with a focus on improving quality of life.

Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia Program (HHT)

The HHT Program at Boston Medical Center includes medical providers from 10 specialties, committed to providing coordinated, excellent care including genetic counseling and testing, diagnosis, screening, and treatment to optimize the health and lives of those affected by HHT.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary rehabilitation is a multidisciplinary program designed for patients with chronic lung diseases including, but not limited to, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, sarcoidosis, and obstructive sleep apnea.

Interventional Bronchoscopy

The Interventional Bronchoscopy program is dedicated to the care of patients with complex airway disease including obstructing cancers, broncholiths, relapsing polychondritis, tracheoesophageal fistulae, tracheobronchial and laryngeal amyloidosis, papillomatosis, tracheal stenoses, and tracheomalacia.

The Pulmonary Physiology service provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art assessment of respiratory mechanics and function. The goal is to assist the clinician in the diagnosis and prognosis of all forms of pulmonary-related diseases and to assist the clinical investigator in the pursuit of understanding and defining pulmonary disease through research.
