Clinical Data Warehouse for Research (CDW-R)

  • Summary: The BMC Clinical Data Warehouse for Research (CDW-R) is a centralized resource to access patient-level and population-level data for research. The CDW-R extracts data from the BMC Electronic Health Records (EHR) and other health system-related data streams to facilitate research activities and analyses. CDW-R data extraction services include providing simple count data to estimate cohort size for feasibility analysis and/or grant preparation; generating recruitment lists to facilitate prospective recruitment; identifying retrospective study cohorts; and providing research data sets, including de-identified data sets, limited data sets, and identifiable data sets for both retrospective and prospective research studies.

General Clinical Research Unit (GCRU)

  • Summary: GCRU offers essential support to clinical studies. These services include pharmacokinetic studies, infusions, PK sampling, CT scans, DXA (bone densitometry), laboratory processing and/or shipping, storage in our monitored and alarmed bio-repository, budget review and IRB support, research coordinator support, protocol review, and study feasibility.

Interpreter Services

  • Summary: The goal of the Interpreter Services Department is to reduce linguistic barriers for limited English proficient (LEP), deaf, and hard-of-hearing patients seeking care at BMC. Services include:

Investigational Pharmacy Services (IPS)

  • Summary: (Drug trials only) Investigational Pharmacy Services will provide a budget for services pertaining to study drug storage, maintenance, and other administrative tasks.

Informed Consent/Document Translation

  • Summary: Study teams requiring ICF translation services can work with CTO and our third-party vendor Cyracom. Languages offered include: Vietnamese, Spanish, Haitian Creole and Portuguese, etc.

Marketing

  • Summary: Study teams interested in developing materials to recruit study participants must work with the BMC, BUSM, BUSPH or BU Dental Communications/Marketing Departments on the development of materials or on the review of sponsor-supplied materials to ensure brand compliance.

Ophthalmology

Clinical Trial Office

  • Summary: The CTO oversees the CT agreement & budget negotiations; supports all BUMC clinical researchers performing research at BMC with: coverage analysis, budgeting, research charge master, business operation systems (Epic research billing, CTMS, & Participant Reimbursement); & monitors post-award financial health of clinical trials.
