Financial Assistance Across BMC Health System

Financial assistance is available to help eligible patients receive medically necessary care at a reduced cost or at no cost at Boston Medical Center, Boston Medical Center Brighton and Boston Medical Center South. Our Financial Counseling team can help you understand your options and determine which programs may apply to your situation.

Financial Assistance Options

BMC Health System offers two paths to financial assistance: state coverage programs, such as MassHealth and the Health Safety Net, and BMC Health System financial assistance programs. If you don’t qualify for state coverage, or still have remaining costs, BMC Health System programs may help. Many patients may qualify for assistance through both.

Financial assistance is available to eligible uninsured and underinsured Massachusetts residents. Depending on the program, eligibility may be based on factors such as income, insurance status and medical expenses.

Medical Hardship may be available to Massachusetts residents at any income level if medical expenses are too large relative to their income to manage.

Patients who qualify for financial assistance will not be charged more for emergency or other medically necessary care than the amounts generally billed to patients who have insurance.
