Why Choose BMC for Your Pregnancy and Birth
- Caring and skilled team: At BMC, you will be cared for by expert doctors, midwives, nurses, and family medicine doctors. They are here to help you have a safe and healthy pregnancy and birth. Our team is available 24 hours a day.
- Respectful and culturally aware care: Our care team and Birth Sisters (doulas) include people from many cultures and backgrounds, including Latin America, Haiti, Cape Verde, and more. We respect your culture and work hard to meet your needs.
- We speak your language: We offer interpreters who speak your language any time, day or night. Many of our staff also speak more than one language. Birth Sisters, who are trained women from the community, can help you before, during, and after birth.
- Special care for high-risk pregnancies: If you have a high-risk pregnancy, BMC has expert doctors to help. We care for people with health problems like diabetes, HIV, or problems with the baby. We offer special tests and support to help keep you and your baby safe.
- Comfort during labor: You can choose what kind of pain relief is right for you—with or without medicines. We offer epidurals for labor at any time of day. We also have midwives and nurses who help with natural ways to manage pain.
- Prenatal classes and support: We offer childbirth classes in English and Spanish, as well as CenteringPregnancy group care, where you can learn and share with others who are pregnant.
- Breastfeeding help: BMC is a “baby-friendly” hospital. This means we do a great job helping families who want to breastfeed. Lactation consultants and peer counselors are here to help with breastfeeding before and after birth.
- Newborn intensive care unit (NICU): If your baby is born early or needs extra care, our NICU is ready. Our doctors and nurses are trained to care for sick or small babies and use the latest medical tools.
- Convenient Prenatal Care: We offer great prenatal care at BMC and other health centers in the community, so you can get care close to home.
- Great Care After Birth: After your baby is born, our nurses will help you with feeding and caring for your newborn. We offer private rooms for you and your baby, and group classes for support. Doctors and midwives check in with you to make sure you and your baby are doing well.
