Education and Training
Medical Student Education
Students at the BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine receive a strong clinical foundation in family medicine, including classes, a core rotation, and a variety of optional electives. In addition, our Action and Mentorship Program (AMP) provides early clinical experience, mentorship, and support to medical students interested in community health and primary care.
Family Medicine Residency
Our department is committed to education that prepares residents for careers as primary care physicians, with special emphasis on working in multidisciplinary primary care teams responsive to the needs of multicultural communities. We aim to promote an environment of inquiry, scholarship, interprofessional collaboration, and support for all residents.
Academic Fellowship
Family Medicine offers an academic fellowship program designed to prepare fellows for leadership positions in primary care. We aim to help fellows develop research skills, acquire teaching experience, and learn leadership and management strategies, which will allow them to go on to productive careers in research and/or medical education.
Sports Medicine Fellowship
Our primary care sports medicine fellowship is a one-year program that aims to provide a well-rounded experience that will train interested physicians in the principles, practice, teaching, and scholarship of primary care sports medicine. The fellowship is open to graduates of residency programs in family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, or emergency medicine.
Family Medicine Research
