BMC’s Pediatric Emergency Department delivers emergency care to patients ages newborn to 22 years old 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. When a child arrives at our emergency room, our trained nurses make an evaluation and ensure that they get the care they need from our expert staff. Please understand that in any emergency room, the most urgent cases must be seen first, regardless of the order in which patients arrive.

Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship
The three-year pediatric emergency medicine fellowship aims to train and develop physicians who, in addition to possessing exceptional clinical skills, will grow their unique expertise in areas such as research, health equity, education, and administrative leadership. Fellows gain a wealth of experience in our pediatric program, which plays a major role in the care of children in Boston.
Pediatric Residency
BMC is one of the two primary training sites, along with Boston Children’s Hospital, for residents of the Boston Combined Residency Program (BCRP). Residents in this program play a large role in staffing our pediatric emergency department, along with residents from other specialties and hospitals.
Other Trainees
In addition to pediatric residents, we have a variety of other learners at all times. This includes emergency medicine and family medicine residents, and third- and- fourth-year medical students.
Research Overview
Our pediatric emergency medicine specialists participate in research in prehospital care, medical simulation, disaster preparedness, and medical education. We also collaborate on pediatric emergency research projects across our institution and the region.
