Barbara M. Walsh, MD, is a pediatric emergency medicine physician at Boston Medical Center (BMC) and a clinical professor of pediatrics at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. In addition to the medical training she received at University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, Dr. Walsh also earned a Teaching with Simulation Faculty Development Certificate. She also attended an Instructor Workshop in Medical Simulation at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Walsh has worked in a variety of roles in the field of pediatrics including a discussion leader, co-course developer, program director, and a faculty leader. She is a noted lecturer and has given over fifty lectures and presentations. In 2010, Dr. Walsh created the COMET program, a community outreach mobile education training program that provides a comprehensive, in situ, high fidelity simulation for teams to participate in high risk, low frequency resuscitation events. The COMET program encompasses all disciplines and units of medical practice and is run nationally. Dr. Walsh is also the Director of Mobile Outreach and In Situ Simulation as well as the Associate Director/Pediatrics at the Solomont Simulation Center at BMC where she directs all in situ training and education for interdisciplinary providers.
