Homemade pizzas are a great way for the family to cook together and for kids to have fun in the kitchen. Try making your own dough and top with whatever you like!

Ingredients


Whole_wheat_pizza_dough - 1 lb (or follow instructions in notes for homemade crust*) Tomato_sauce - 1 ½ cups, low sodium Mozzarella_cheese - 1 ½ cups, part-skim, shredded Red_bell_pepper - 1 large Green_bell_pepper - 1 large Yellow_onion - 1 large Broccoli - 1 ½ cups, chopped Flour - for rolling out dough

Instructions

Step 1
Take pizza dough out of the refrigerator 1-2 hours before cooking it.
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 450F and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
Step 3
Cut the dough into 6 equal pieces.
Step 4
Roll each piece of dough into a 6 inch round and place 3 rounds on each baking sheet.
Step 5
Spread ¼ cup sauce on each round.
Step 6
Chop the broccoli and slice the peppers and onions. Top each pizza with desired vegetables.
Step 7
Sprinkle ¼ cup mozzarella cheese over each pizza.
Step 8
Bake pizzas until crust is golden brown and cheese is melted, about 15 minutes.
Step 9
Carefully remove from oven and let cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use whatever vegetables you like! Try making your own dough, too!

Homemade Dough

  • Water - 1 cup, warm (110-115 degrees – like a nice, hot shower temperature)
  • Active_dry_yeast - 1 (.25 ounce) packet (2 ¼ teaspoons)
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon 
  • Whole_wheat_flour - 2 ¼ cups 
  • Oil - 1 Tablespoon 
  • Salt - ½ teaspoon 
  1. In a small bowl combine water, yeast, and sugar. Mix until yeast is dissolved. Let stand 10 minutes until begins to bubble.
  2. In a large bowl add the flour, oil, salt, and yeast mixture. Stir well to combine
  3. Knead for 8 minutes, sprinkling with extra flour as needed.  
  4. Cover and set in a warm place to rise for 30 minutes.  
  5. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit 
  6. Spray a pizza pan or cookie sheet with vegetable oil spray. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface.  Place on pizza pan.
  7. Follow steps 4-8 using your favorite vegetable pizza toppings.
