Weather Advisory: Temporary Door Closure

Due to extreme cold, access through the Moakley Building's entrance off Boston Medical Center Place will be temporarily closed from 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, through 7 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2.

All patients and visitors should use the main entrance for the Menino and Yawkey Buildings during this time. The hospital remains open and operating as normal.

We appreciate your patience as we take these precautions during severe winter weather.

Peyronie's disease is a condition that causes curved and painful erections. Your penis may also be shorter during erections or look different than it used to. This happens when scar tissue forms in the tissues under the skin of the penis.

Not all curved erections are cause for concern, but Peyronie's disease can cause a severe curve or pain. In severe cases, it may prevent you from having sex or lead to erectile dysfunction.

The most common cause of Peyronie's disease is repeated injury to the penis, which leads to scar tissue forming. Other risk factors include a family history of Peyronie's disease, connective tissue diseases, and age. For some people, the exact cause is unknown.

Potential treatments for Peyronie's disease include traction therapy, medications, and surgery to straighten the penis.
