Hepatitis is a viral infection that affects the liver. There are three types and all are contagious: Hepatitis A, B and C. Hepatitis A is contagious and acute, meaning you catch it and have it for a short time. Hepatitis B and C are blood infections that cause the liver to not function properly; children with Hepatitis B or C are usually infected during birth from the mother.
