Dr. David McAneny oversees physicians and advanced practice providers in their delivery of exceptional and equitable care to BMC patients and their families.

Before being appointed to this role in 2022, Dr. McAneny served as chief surgical officer, chief of the Division of General Surgery, and vice chair of the Department of Surgery. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Georgetown University School of Medicine and maintains an active surgery practice at BMC. In addition, Dr. McAneny is a professor of surgery and an associate dean for clinical affairs at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. He currently serves on New England Surgical Society Executive Committee and is past president of the Boston Surgical Society Council.
