Nasopharyngeal cancer occurs in the nasopharynx, which is behind the nose and above the back of the throat. Uncommon in the United States, nasopharyngeal cancer is difficult to detect early because the nasopharynx is hard to examine and its symptoms mimic those of other conditions.
