Nyia L. Noel, MD, MPH, FACOG

Obstetrician-Gynecologist and Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Boston Medical Center and Founder of The Fibroid Center (BMC)

Nyia L. Noel, MD, MPH, FACOG is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Boston Medical Center (BMC). Dr. Noel is also an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. Her clinical and research interests include fibroids, endometriosis, disparities in maternal morbidity and mortality and health care access and systems delivery. Dr. Noel also serves as a co-investigator for the All of Us Research Program at BMC/Boston University Medical Center through which she works to increase enrollment of underrepresented groups in research. During Fibroid Awareness Month in July 2021, she founded The Fibroid Center at BMC, which focuses on exceptional care, patient advocacy and research through centering the patient voice.

Petrina Martin Cherry, MBA, VP

VP, Community Engagement and External Affairs, BMC Health System

Petrina Martin Cherry is responsible for leading all external affairs and community engagement outreach for the health system, with an eye to healthcare equity, social determinants of health, diversity, and inclusion.

Prior to joining in 2016, Martin Cherry spent 15 years in entertainment marketing and media training for celebrities and non-profit organizations. She received her Executive Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson School of Business and her Bachelor of Arts in English literature from University of South Carolina. Martin Cherry currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Boston Foundation, The Boys and Girls Club of Boston and Boston Arts Academy, the American Hospital Association Advisory Board and was appointed by Governor Healey to the MA State Black Empowerment Council and the MA Council of Arts and Culture.

Lisa Cunningham

Executive Producer, me period; Interim Co-President & EVP, Marketing and Communications, Black Women’s Health Imperative

Lisa Cunningham is an award-winning marketing and communications executive with a proven track record of leading multimillion-dollar, integrated campaigns that drive measurable impact in women’s health. Currently serving as EVP of Marketing & Communications at the Black Women's Health Imperative (BWHI), Lisa has spearheaded national campaigns on breast and cervical cancer awareness and diabetes prevention—leveraging star power from icons like Ciara, Mary J. Blige, and Sherri Shepherd to elevate critical health conversations. Her Anthem Award-winning cervical cancer awareness campaign with Ciara and Hologic generated over 58 million organic impressions, and her strategic leadership resulted in a 2,700%+ increase in audience engagement and a 211% growth in social media followers, reinforcing her ability to translate awareness into action.

Lisa began her career in the entertainment industry, making her mark as both a marketing powerhouse and a director/producer for major recording artists and entertainment companies. She later transitioned her expertise in digital content and marketing into purpose-driven work, creating impactful campaigns for brands like McDonald's, the CDC, Ford Motors, W Hotels, and ViiV Healthcare, as well as numerous non-profits. Her most recent project, Me Period—an award-winning documentary she directed for the Black Women’s Health Imperative—won the Best Documentary Audience Award at the Essence Film Festival. The film, which explores intergenerational conversations between Black mothers and daughters on pre-teen and teen health, features powerful voices like Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tabitha Brown, and their daughters.

Beyond marketing, Lisa is an influential speaker, host, and producer in the health advocacy space. She was appointed by former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and current Mayor Andre Dickens to serve on the city's LGBTQ Advisory Board and is a member of Seed & Spark’s Creative Advisory Council and the Alliance for Women’s Health and Prevention’s (AWHP) Advisory Council. As a passionate philanthropist, she actively supports local charities focused on disadvantaged youth and underserved communities.
