Belonging

Noun

How connected one feels to one’s community/ communities; a measure of psychological safety, being seen, included, valued, and empowered as a member of a team. Belonging is both a feeling and a practice - something we can experience and something we can create collectively. Belonging is operationalized when individuals are considered part of the constitutional foundation of an organization or institution. Belonging is achieved when individuals have the ability to critique and hold an institution accountable for advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and occupational well-being.
