Jean-Antoine Ribeil, MD, PHD, is a hematologist specializing in red blood cell disorders at Boston Medical Center (BMC), where he is the Clinical Director of the Sickle Cell Disease Center. Dr Ribeil is also an associate professor of Hematology & Oncology at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Aix-Marseille in France and completed a doctorate in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Paris. Prior to moving to Boston in 2017, Dr. Ribeil served as the Medical Director of the Department of Biotherapy at Necker University in Paris, where he founded and directed a sickle cell referral center. Dr. Ribeil is an internationally recognized hematologist and a highly innovative leader in the treatment of sickle cell anemia. He is committed to developing clinical research, most notably in gene therapy for hemoglobinopathies.
