The Emergency Department Addiction Consult Team (ED ACT) is a partnership between Adult Primary Care, Addiction Medicine, and Emergency Medicine that provides medical consultation, linkage to outpatient treatment, and harm reduction counseling for patients who use drugs and access medical care through the BMC Emergency Department.  

A department providing addiction treatment for substance use disorders, as well as specialized care for related medical conditions and specific circumstances.
Primary care for people over 18 years old including preventive services, routine exams, chronic disease management, and treatment of minor illness.

A department providing emergency care in the ER with 24/7 treatment for trauma and urgent medical conditions.

A specialized team that cares for hospitalized patients with substance use disorders and supports their transition to treatment after discharge.

A primary care program offering adolescent substance use services and adolescent addiction treatment with medical care and counseling support.

BMC’s substance use disorder urgent care program that provides a judgment-free home for people with addiction and connections to a network of care.

A program that provides screening and referrals to treatment for patients in BMC's Emergency Department who use drugs and/or alcohol.

A prenatal care program that offers addiction and behavioral health treatment and support for pregnant people with substance use disorders.

A department providing mental and behavioral health care to improve emotional wellbeing, including therapy for anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Addiction and Emergency Medicine Residency Fellowships

All addiction psychiatry fellows at BMC rotate through the Emergency Department Addiction Consult Team, while addiction medicine fellows and emergency medicine residents have the option for an elective rotation with our team.
