A myomectomy is a procedure used to evaluate and remove fibroids in the uterus.

Hysteroscopic myomectomy involves inserting a thin lighted viewing instrument (hysteroscope) through the vagina and the cervix into the uterus. This instrument allows the doctor to view the fibroid to remove it through the vagina.

In a laparoscopic myomectomy, surgical instruments are inserted through small holes in the abdomen and used to remove fibroids from the wall of the uterus.
