Rohan Khazanchi, MD

Rohan Khazanchi, MD, MPH, is an adult and pediatric hospitalist at Boston Medical Center. His clinical expertise is in the care of hospitalized children and adults, and he is particularly interested in the care of infants with prenatal substance exposure and adults with substance use disorders. He has additional training in procedures and point-of-care ultrasound, and he splits his clinical time between inpatient direct care, teaching, and bedside procedure services.

Rohan earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and his Master of Public Health degree from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. He completed Internal Medicine & Pediatrics residency training with the Harvard Combined Med-Peds Residency Program at Brigham & Women's Hospital, Boston Children's Hospital, and Boston Medical Center, receiving peer-nominated recognitions including the Senior Resident Teaching Award and the Darryl J. Powell, MD, Social Justice Award, as well as several local and national research awards.

In addition to his clinical work, Rohan is a health policy research fellow in the Department of Population Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute, where his research focuses on stigmatized conditions (substance use disorders, serious mental illness, and infectious diseases); the (mis)use of race in clinical algorithms; and the care of children, young adults, and families involved in the child welfare, juvenile justice, adult criminal-legal, and immigrant detention systems. He is committed to local community engagement and serves on the scientific advisory council for the Transformational Prison Project, a restorative justice-focused organization founded and led by formerly incarcerated individuals.
