Nyia L. Noel, MD, MPH, FACOG, is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Boston Medical Center (BMC). Dr. Noel is also an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.
Dr. Noel earned her medical degree as well as a master’s in public health from the University of ... Michigan in Ann Arbor. She completed her OB/GYN residency training through the University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia, and followed with a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Massachusetts.
Dr. Noel’s clinical and research interests include fibroids, endometriosis, disparities in maternal morbidity and mortality, and health care access and systems delivery.
Dr. Noel previously worked with The Prenatal Aspirin Project to promote the use of low-dose aspirin in pregnancy to decrease Black maternal morbidity and mortality by decreasing the occurrence of preeclampsia, preterm birth, and fetal growth restriction in high-risk women. During Fibroid Awareness Month in July 2021, she founded The Fibroid Center at BMC, which focuses on centering patient voices to increase access to exceptional care and advance clinical research. Additionally, she serves as a coinvestigator for the All of Us Research Program at BMC/Boston University Medical Center, through which she works to increase enrollment of underrepresented groups in research.
