About

Matthew MacLeod Heeney, MD, is a pediatric hematologist/oncologist at Boston Medical Center. He is also Associate Chief of the Hematology Program at Boston Children's Hospital (BCH) and the Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, and Director of the Pediatric Sickle Cell Program. His clinical and research focuses are sickle cell anemia and iron metabolism disorders. He is also Associate Professor of Pediatrics, lecturer, and instructor at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Heeney is actively involved in clinical trials and translational research, and has led several multi-center clinical trials sponsored by the National Institutes of Health and industry partners.
