Manju L. Subramanian, MD

Manju L. Subramanian, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and Chief of Ophthalmology at Boston Medical Center (BMC) and an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology & Vision Sciences at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, where she also serves as Vice-Chair of Faculty Affairs.

Dr. Subramanian received her medical degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC) School of Medicine and completed an internship year at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, followed by ophthalmology residency training at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City. She subsequently completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal disease and surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine/Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston.

Dr. Subramanian’s practice centers on vitreoretinal disease and surgery and her areas of clinical interest include medical and surgical management of diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal detachments, hereditary retinal diseases, ocular inflammation, and ocular trauma. In addition to these, her research interests include the study of eye fluid biomarkers as a potential diagnostic modality in Alzheimer’s Disease (AD).
