Karl J. Karlson, MD, is a board-certified cardiac surgeon at Boston Medical Center (BMC) and an emeritus assistant professor at Boston University (BU) Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. After receiving his medical degree, he completed a surgery residency at Johns Hopkins University and a thoracic surgery residency at Rush University Medical Center. Dr. Karlson is also the chief of cardiac surgery at BMC and a member of the Evans Center for Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research at BU.
