Weather Advisory: Temporary Door Closure

Due to extreme cold, access through the Moakley Building's entrance off Boston Medical Center Place will be temporarily closed from 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, through 7 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9.

All patients and visitors should use the main entrance for the Menino and Yawkey Buildings during this time. The hospital remains open and operating as normal.

About

Ika Noviawaty, MD, is a board-certified neurologist specializing in epilepsy at Boston Medical Center (BMC), where she serves as Epilepsy Division Chief. She is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Neurology at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

Dr. Noviawaty completed her neurology residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, followed by fellowships in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology at the Cleveland Clinical Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. She then joined the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School as Director of the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and co-Director of Epilepsy Surgery. She joined Boston University and Boston Medical Center in 2023.

Dr. Noviawaty specializes in complex epilepsy management and presurgical evaluation. She is actively involved in clinical operation optimization and expansion, along with transitional care from BMC’s pediatric to its adult epilepsy clinic. In her past role at UMass, she revamped the comprehensive epilepsy division, leading to National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) Level 4 certification. During her time with BMC, the BMC Epilepsy Program has also achieved that Level 4 certification.

Dr. Noviawaty’s research interests include seizure semiology and treatment outcomes. She is actively involved in clinical trials and the development of simulation tools for medical education.
