David P. Mooney, MD, MPH, is a board-certified pediatric surgeon affiliated with Boston Medical Center (BMC), Boston Children's Hospital (BCH), and Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). Dr. Mooney is also an associate professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School and the director of the trauma center at BCH. After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Mooney completed a surgery residency at the University of Vermont Medical Center and a pediatric surgery fellowship at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. He has been active on a variety of national committees, including the American College of Surgeons, the American Pediatric Surgical Association, and the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma. Dr. Mooney was also the founding president of the Pediatric Trauma Society. He has conducted over 100 reviews of pediatric trauma centers in the United States and published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and 12 book chapters.
