Alex G. Cuenca, MD, PhD

Alex G. Cuenca, MD, PhD, is a board-certified attending pediatric surgeon at Boston Children's Hospital and a transplant surgeon affiliated with Boston Medical Center (BMC). He is also an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School. After receiving his medical degree, he completed a surgery residency at the University of Florida. Dr. Cuenca then completed a pediatric surgery fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital and a transplant hepatology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. His clinical interests include pediatric hepatobiliary and pancreatic disease. His research is focused on the role of innate immunity in allograft tolerance and expanding the utility of normothermic machine perfusion for use in solid organ transplantation.
