Jennifer S. Davids, MD

Jennifer S. Davids, MD, is System Chief of Colon and Rectal Surgery for the BMC Health System (Boston Medical Center, BMC Brighton, and BMC South). She is also Associate Professor of Surgery at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

Dr. Davids received her medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. She completed her general surgery residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston folowed by a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Chan Medical School in Worcester. Prior to joining BMC in 2023, Dr. Davids was an Associate Professor of Surgery at UMass and an attending surgeon in the Division of Colorectal Surgery at UMass Memorial Medical Center.

A nationally recognized surgeon and Castle Connolly Top Doctor, Dr. Davids has expertise in robotic, laparoscopic, and complex open surgery as well as anorectal surgery and colonoscopy.

Dr. Davids’ research interests are focused on colorectal surgery outcomes, including identifying and mitigating disparities due to social determinants of health (SDOH). She also has a research interest in building gender equity and fostering leadership skills among women in surgery.

Dr. Davids is active in the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and currently serves on the Executive Council, and is an Editorial Board member of multiple journals, including Diseases of the Colon and Rectum.
