Los fibromas son crecimientos comunes, no cancerosos, que pueden aparecer en el útero y lo hacen con mayor frecuencia en la edad fértil de la mujer. Los fibromas vienen en todos los tamaños y pueden crecer rápidamente o permanecer pequeños, y aunque no siempre hay síntomas, a veces sangrado abundante o un ciclo menstrual muy largo son una señal de que hay fibromas presentes. Aunque no existe una causa conocida aparte de ser una mujer en edad fértil, se sabe que los fibromas son hereditarios (hereditarios).
