Boston Medical Center is proud to offer house staff outside of Boston Medical Center the opportunity to rotate through our hospital in one of our superb training programs. Below is a link to the electronic application. The password for the electronic application will be given to you by the BMC Program Administrator of the program you wish to rotate to. This application should be submitted 90 days before your expected start date.

Medical Student Electives

All students must contact the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine Registrar for information regarding student electives.

Requirements for All Rotators

The Massachusetts Medical Board requires all rotators to have a valid Massachusetts Medical License. You must apply on their website if you do not have a Massachusetts License. An invitation will be emailed once you complete the BMC Rotator Application Form. Any supporting documentation should be sent directly to the BMC Program Administrator you are working with to set up the rotation. Please note: license applications can take up to 8 weeks for Board approval once submitted and will cost you $100.00 + $2.79 online convenience fee.

Interns, Residents, and Fellows are not allowed to come as Observers, regardless of what country you are currently practicing in.

Boston Medical Center requires all rotators to submit the following:

  • A Completed Application Form (Google Form)
  • Program Director Reference Letter
  • BMC Program Letter of Agreement
  • CORI Verification from Home Institution
  • Valid MA Medical License
    • Limited License Certificate
      OR
    • Full License Wallet Card, Full License Application, Federal DEA and State Controlled Substance Certification
  • Malpractice Facesheet [minimum of $1 million/$3 million]
  • BMCHS Occupational Health Clearance - Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination (full series and booster or one Bivalent vaccine) is Required
  • Current CV
  • Signed IS Usage Agreement
  • Workday Learning Courses
  • If applicable, ECFMG Certificate and U.S. Work Authorization
    • Note: Boston Medical Center is not authorized to sponsor a visa or U.S. Work Authorization for rotators.

Once you have completed the initial application form you will be given access to New Innovations by the BMC Program Administrator you are working with. A rotator checklist (with detailed instructions) will be assigned to you, where you can enter and upload all of the required information.
