The Volunteer Services Department at BMCHS is dedicated to helping BMCHS fulfill its mission of providing consistently excellent and accessible health services to all in need of care, regardless of status or ability to pay. Our volunteers are an invaluable asset to the medical center and support staff, patients, families and visitors.
Volunteers assist the BMCHS community with services that support the hospital's mission. Opportunities include working in pediatrics, visiting with patients in geriatrics, welcoming people to the campus and helping them find their way, rolling an entertainment cart filled with books, games and puzzles for people waiting for appointments, helping with administrative duties - and so much more!
Volunteer Services helps departments identify volunteer needs, develop position descriptions, identify and recruit potential volunteers, shepherd applicants through the BMCHS onboarding process, provide orientation, and support new volunteers as they report to their departments and assignments. It is challenging, exciting, rewarding and FUN!

Requirements for Volunteering
- Be at least 18 years old*
- Be able to commit 3 hours weekly for 6-12 months
- Complete an application and attend a screening call
- Complete health clearance requirements and a criminal background check (18+)
- Complete educational modules and attend an in-person orientation
- Be committed to providing exceptional care without exception
*Our Junior Summer Volunteer Program is a summer program for high school students (rising juniors or seniors) who are 16+. The program runs June – August, and applications open at the beginning of the year.
