Dr. Pernar specializes in minimally invasive and weight loss (bariatric) surgery. She received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed both general surgery residency and fellowship in advanced minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She also holds a master’s degree in health professions education from the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, where she is an Associate Professor of Surgery. Dr. Pernar’s research is centered on surgery education, but also encompasses research focused on quality improvement and outcomes in hernia and bariatric surgery.
