Mark Bernstein, MD, is a trauma and emergency radiologist at Boston University/Boston Medical Center. Before his recent start in Boston, he served 19 years at New York University and Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan. He completed his fellowship in Trauma Radiology at the University of Maryland, Shock Trauma Center and began his academic career establishing a new ER Radiology section at NYU where he expanded the focus and diagnosis of trauma. He compiled whole-body trauma CT protocols for three level 1 trauma centers across New York City allowing patients to undergo a complete diagnostic evaluation in a single visit. At NYU he served as the trauma radiology liaison for the American College of Surgeons (ACS) accreditation proceedings. In 2016 Dr. Bernstein served as President of the American Society of Emergency Radiology, and in 2018 received the ASER Gold Medal Award. He has been deeply involved in teaching, and currently sits on ACS and ACR Emergency Radiology committees.
