Rethinking Clinical Research

The Center for Clinical Research Advancement (CCRA) challenges traditional approaches to the conduct of research by identifying hidden biases, unveiling new tools, and reconfiguring operational methods.  Because this work cannot be done alone, we build trusted partnerships with principal investigators (PIs), study teams, hospital administrators, patients, communities, and biotech companies to revolutionize how we collectively reinvent an inclusive research model, promoting scientific rigor and efficiency.

Our center deploys two teams in rethinking clinical research:

  • The Clinical Trial Office (CTO) oversees industry-initiated clinical trial finances for BMC PIs and study teams; collaborates with PIs on investigator-initiated trials; and provides operational support to BUMC investigators performing research at BMC.
  • The Clinical Research Network (CRN) offers staffing services for institutionally prioritized or under-resourced studies and supports researchers and surrounding communities by implementing engagement practices, co-designing appropriate interventions, and nurturing progress in research infrastructure.
