At Boston Medical Center, our surgeons perform thousands of surgeries each year, both planned and emergency procedures. These include appendectomy, gallbladder surgery, hernia repair, abdominal wall reconstruction, and soft tissue excisions, using open, minimally invasive, and robot-assisted techniques. . Patients are seen in the general surgery clinic or in one of our surgical specialty clinics.

Our general surgery residency program provides residents with the range and depth of surgical experience and academic exposure required to develop superior surgical skills and an ability to make informed, independent judgments. Residents gain broad and deep experience in complex open and minimally invasive surgery, as well as skills in surgical research.
