Giới thiệu

Sarah E. Valentine, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist at Boston Medical Center (BMC), and an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. Dr. Valentine directs BMC’s RESTORE (Recovery from Stress and Trauma through Outpatient care, Research, and Education) Center as well as the BMC/BU Program of Research in Implementation Science, Minority Stress, and Mental Health (PRISMM).

As a researcher, Dr. Valentine focuses on evidence-based treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in safety-net hospital and community-based settings. She is interested in how community engagement can promote long-term success of interventions in settings where marginalized groups receive their care. She seeks to build capacity for culturally responsive PTSD treatment in routine care.

Dr. Valentine has received funding from the National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH) to conduct trials of PTSD treatments in both primary care and obstetrics. She is developing interventions for PTSD that prioritize access, reach, and engagement to promote health equity.

Dr. Valentine received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Suffolk University in Boston, and completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral research fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School.
