Deborah J. Cotton, MD, MPH, is a renowned infectious disease specialist at Boston Medical Center (BMC) and a professor of medicine emerita at Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. Dr. Cotton is also a deputy editor of the Annals of Internal Medicine. From 2007-2009, Dr. Cotton was the Chief Medical Officer of the Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS Initiative (CHAI). She has served on numerous national committees including the FDA Antiviral Advisory Committee, the Board on Health Sciences Policy of the Institute of Medicine, the NIH Office of AIDS Research Advisory Council and the NIH AIDS Clinical Epidemiology Study Section (ACE). She is also a past member and chair of National and Global Public Health Committee of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and a past member of the IDSA Center for Global Health Scientific Advisory Committee. Dr. Cotton has remained an active clinician and clinical investigator throughout her career. Her research has focused on the clinical epidemiology of HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases.
