Weather Advisory: Temporary Door Closure

Due to extreme cold, access through the Moakley Building's entrance off Boston Medical Center Place will be temporarily closed from 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, through 7 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2.

All patients and visitors should use the main entrance for the Menino and Yawkey Buildings during this time. The hospital remains open and operating as normal.

We appreciate your patience as we take these precautions during severe winter weather.

Treatments and Services

Addiction Treatment Before Delivery

Our team is here to provide patients with wrap-around support to meet their recovery, medical, behavioral health, and family goals. Depending on the patients' medical history and goals of care, Project RESPECT offers individualized therapy plans that can include inpatient admission to BMC’s high-risk obstetrics service for medical stabilization, titration, recovery services, office-based addiction treatment, one-to-one peer recovery coaching, and connection to psychiatry and behavioral health treatment.

In preparation for parenting in recovery, we will collaborate with patients to prepare a family care plan that highlights strengths, motivations, and recovery capital.

Addiction Treatment After Delivery

Patients care with Project RESPECT will continue for 12 months after pregnancy. This time period can be very demanding, and we do not recommend patients transfer their care during this year. During their 12-month post-pregnancy care, patients will meet regularly with their RESPECT team for continuous recovery support, post-pregnancy medical and psychiatric care, family planning services, prescription medication management, and if indicated, hepatitis C treatment. We will work to tailor patients' post-pregnancy treatment support based on their needs.
