Education and Training

Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship

This three-year program provides training for fellows to become board-certified in both pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine. The fellowship includes clinical care at BMC and the VA Boston Healthcare system, as well as a mentored research project. An optional fourth year focused on research is also available to trainees. 

Research Overview

Clinicians and researchers at BMC and Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine lead many active research programs studying lungs and individuals with lung disease.  

Included in this research are programs focused on understanding how the airways function in disease and in health to clear the lungs of mucus and infections; the genetic causes and mechanisms that lead to bronchiectasis; pre-clinical testing of novel therapies for diseases such as cystic fibrosis, primary ciliary dyskinesia, and many more.
