The Pre-Procedure Clinic (PPC) is an outpatient clinic for people who are having surgery or another invasive procedure. Our goal at the PPC is to make sure that you’re ready for your procedure, so that you can have the best possible outcome.

The Geriatric Perioperative Care (Geri-PPC) Clinic helps older adults safely prepare for surgery, providing comprehensive evaluations before surgery to identify potential risks, as well as developing personalized care plans to support the best outcomes for patients during recovery and beyond.

Pre-Procedure Clinic Overview

After you schedule your surgery, your surgeon’s office will ask you to book an appointment with us within 30 days of your procedure. You do not need a referral for this visit.

At the clinic, you will:

  • Get any pre-surgery tests or assessments you need, such as blood tests or an EKG. The exact tests you get depend on what type of procedure you're having, your general health, and your doctor’s recommendations.
  • Learn about the surgery you’re having, including how to prepare, what to do on the day of your procedure, and what you will need to know for after your procedure.

Our Pre-Procedure Clinic team includes skilled physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and anesthesia providers. We work closely with all surgical teams at BMC and follow all specific guidelines to help you before, during, and after your procedure.

Geriatric Perioperative Care (Geri-PPC) Clinic Overview
