Susan Ann Minear, MD, is a board-certified developmental and behavioral pediatrician at Boston Medical Center (BMC), where she serves as Medical Director of the Baby Steps Program. She is also a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

Dr. Minear earned her medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and completed her pediatrics residency at Tufts–New England Medical Center in Boston.

From 1997 to 2005 and again from 2019 to 2024, Dr. Minear served as the Medical Director of the BMC newborn nursery. She co-created the Newborn Behavior Observation Curriculum and Training, which is used to train newborn care professionals and students in 19 states and 13 countries around the world. She was a member of BMC’s Baby-Friendly task force, which led BMC to become the first Baby-Friendly Hospital in Massachusetts in 1999. She is also a member of BMC’s Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome task force.

Since 2009, Dr. Minear has been the medical director of Baby Steps, a BMC outpatient multidisciplinary clinic that strives to prevent Failure to Thrive (FTT) and promote early intervention for infants born at risk.
