Donald T. Hess, MD, is the Chief of Bariatric Surgery and Director of the Bariatric Surgery Program at Boston Medical Center (BMC). He is also an assistant professor of surgery at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. At BMC, Dr. Hess provides leadership and his own surgical expertise in minimally invasive and bariatric surgeries, including laparoscopic bariatric surgery, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, and revisional bariatric surgery. He is also focused on robotic surgery techniques, surgery to treat diseases of the stomach and esophagus, intestinal surgery, complex hernia surgery, and more. Dr. Hess is a member of the Association of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
