We provide acute-level care for a wide range of medical and surgical conditions in patients ranging in age from newborn to 22 years.

Epilepsy (Pediatric)

Epilepsy is diagnosed when a person has had at least one seizure and there is a strong likelihood of future events. It is a neurological condition that can vary widely in symptoms, so it is best treated on an individual basis. Boston Medical Center's Comprehensive Epilepsy Center (CEC) is committed to helping patients and families get the best possible care for their unique case of epilepsy.

Sickle Cell Disease

Sickle cell disease is a blood disorder where the red blood cells that carry oxygen are curved like a sickle instead of round and soft like a disc. The misshapen cells are sticky, making it hard for blood to flow normally and consequently there is a lack of oxygen in the body, causing possible damage and pain. Sickle cell disease is passed down in families, and more common in people from African and Spanish-speaking regions.
