‘It’s remarkable altruism. These are both nice guys.’

Two local cops who once worked together became a team again when Peter Petrides donated his kidney to Mark Kalinowski. They share their incredible story of organ donation with The Boston Globe

Dr. Jeffrey Cooper, chief of BMC’s division of kidney transplant surgery and Kalinowski’s surgeon shares what it was like being a part of the journey.

“It’s interesting because we do complain about how people can be selfish and out for themselves and then when you realize there are large amounts of people who are willing to help someone else, it’s just remarkable.’’
