Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) is a consult service to the Emergency Medicine team in Boston Medical Center’s Emergency Department. Providers evaluate and treat adults, children, and adolescents with emergency psychiatric needs and provide referrals to care as necessary.

With our exceptionally diverse patient population and wide array of clinical services and research, we offer a unique place for providers to learn.
The psychiatry team at BMC provides training opportunities for medical students, interns, residents, fellows (with five distinct fellowship programs in subspecialty areas ranging from addiction psychiatry to global health), MSW and MMHC candidates, pre- and postdoctoral psychologists, and psychiatric nurse practitioners.
