About

I am a hematologist focusing on sickle cell disease and gene therapy. At Boston Medical Center I manage patients with a wide array of hematologic diagnoses, both malignant and benign, though with a focus on the management of sickle cell disease and curative gene therapy. I am co-PI on multiple sickle cell trials and am PI on a phase I clinical trial of a novel, oral hemoglobin F-inducer for patients living with sickle cell disease. With my mentor Dr. Steinberg, I am also investigating how mean cell hemoglobin (MCH) and total hemoglobin F (HbF) influence the clinical features of sickle cell anemia. Additionally, I am currently working on expanding access to our gene therapy program, actively assessing patients for treatment with this revolutionary ‘curative’ therapy for sickle cell anemia and transfusion-dependent beta thalassemia.
