Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry


Welcome!
The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, based at the Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center is an academic center with a strong research, teaching, and clinical mission. This department originated in 1956. Its training program began in 1961. It is located in a hospital and medical center whose primary mandate is the care and understanding of the complex health needs of children who live in urban environments. Consistent with this mandate, this department aims to provide the highest quality of care for children and families from the inner-city of Boston. The department is particularly committed to advancing the scientific knowledge-base regarding the mental health of children and families who live in the inner-city, and in training mental health professionals about the use of this knowledge. The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is a component of the Boston University/ Boston Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry and is closely affiliated with the Boston University/ Boston Medical Center, Department of Pediatrics.
